Rent Responsibly is a community building platform for local short-term rental alliances. Our platform supports a growing network of alliances across the US. Through remote support services, hands-on training, and centralized technology, we power local STR groups and help them work together to creatively solve communal problems, share resources, and deepen their connection with local small business communities and local governments. 

The Marketing Manager will play a central role in the effectiveness and ultimate success of Rent Responsibly. With a sharp focus on performance marketing, data, and optimization, you will own the growth of our subscribers, audience, and reach while simultaneously deepening brand excitement and loyalty. 

The Marketing Manager will report to the Executive Director. This position may be full-time or part-time, starting as contract to hire. The position will start in early June.

Primary Duties:

  • Tracking and analyzing performance metrics
  • Driving campaigns from planning to execution and beyond to meet key performance metrics
  • Optimizing marketing activities to improve return on investment, including money and time
  • Analyzing and recommending modifications to ad spends
  • Collaborating with the team to guide A/B tests and other experiments on campaigns online and offline to identify what works best
  • Testing new channels and trends
  • Managing and optimizing RentResponsibly.org and other web communication platforms
  • Managing and contributing to the content development process, including sourcing subjects, identifying new content needed, and distributing new and evergreen content
  • Developing and optimizing social media content plans that are consistent with the company’s brand identity
  • Creating consistent, meaningful content on all social media platforms, including writing and editing social media posts, improving customer engagement, and promoting social media campaigns
  • Engaging with social media followers, including responding to queries in a timely manner
  • Producing regular reports on all marketing activities and key metrics
  • Supporting event promotion
  • Supporting adherence to brand standards for all company materials
  • Supporting PR and thought leadership, including building relationships with media contacts and identifying opportunities for interviews, guest articles, and other third-party content

Secondary Duties:

  • Coordinating or contributing to special projects, such as pilots and surveys
  • Coordinating with partner organizations
  • Assisting with special projects

Qualities and Qualifications:

  • You’ve worked 5+ years in marketing.
  • You have ample experience in every stage of marketing campaigns and optimization from research to planning to execution – and you love every stage.
  • You’re not shy about stepping into a role that is new to our team, and you’re excited about building the role as we go.
  • You’re comfortable working with startups and small, fast-moving teams.
  • You can read tea leaves. You’ve got strong knowledge of data collection methods and analysis (Google Analytics, surveys, etc)
  • Your communication and presentation skills are on point. You know how to make things easily understandable and interesting to different audiences. 
  • You have working knowledge of CRM programs.
  • Your written communication is impeccable. 
  • You have supreme attention to detail.
  • You’re a visionary and a doer. You can create the big picture and execute the details.
  • You don’t shy away from making processes more efficient or creating new processes from scratch when needed.
  • You love hitting Post or Send and marking things off your to-do list. 
  • Everything checked off your list meets your high standards of quality, but you don’t let perfection get in the way of a deadline. 
  • Speaking of, you can take a big desired outcome and break it into the steps needed to achieve it and build an effective timeline accordingly. You know how to set deadlines and project milestones for yourself, and you don’t mind gently nudging others to meet theirs, too, especially for processes you own. 
  • You are adept at managing your time. You can juggle projects and shuffle priorities flexibly. You versed in saying “Yes, but” or “No, but” to new requests.
  • You are comfortable working with small teams that collaborate and shift often.
  • You think two and three steps ahead with strategy and tact.
  • If you’ve ever taken a DISC assessment, you probably score higher in I and S qualities (you’re kind of a unicorn.)

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in advocacy or association chapter management
  • Experience in the short-term and vacation rental industry
  • WordPress website management experience
  • Graphic design experience

Rent Responsibly is a 100% remote team regardless of Covid-19. We collaborate daily through Slack, Zoom, GSuite tools, and Airtable. We don’t measure our days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. but through productivity and execution.
