Rent Responsibly is a community building and education platform for local short-term and vacation rental alliances. Our tools and alliance management services equip local leaders to build successful, self-sustaining organizations of owners, hosts, property managers, and all other stakeholders. We make it easy for leaders and members to connect, collaborate, solve common challenges, advocate for themselves, steward their communities, and rent responsibly.

The Community Support Specialist will play a central role in the effectiveness and ultimate success of Rent Responsibly. With a sharp focus on the daily management of alliance support services and the tools and processes behind them, you’ll be the dependable backbone for alliance board leaders and their members by ensuring all alliance projects, campaigns, tasks, and timelines run like clockwork.

The Community Support Specialist will report to the Director of Alliance Operations. This position is full-time and remote (US-based) and will start in March 2022.

Primary Duties:

  • Manage alliance member communication campaigns, including strategic guidance of member content and activation
  • Manage alliance inboxes
  • Some management of alliances’ social media
  • Onboard new alliances
  • Manage alliance event setup and materials creation
  • Manage board meeting reminders and meeting notetaking
  • Assist with facilitating alliance board member action items and deliverables
  • Onboard new alliance board members and provide basic training to board members on collaboration tools like Slack and Google Workspace
  • Manage alliance website content, updates, and calendars
  • Own the storage, organization and maintenance of alliance documents and other files

Secondary Duties:

  • Participate in or manage one-off projects, such as conducting research
  • Documenting processes into standard operating procedures and training materials

Essential Qualities:

  • You’re comfortable working with startups or otherwise small, fast-moving teams. You’re not shy about stepping into an evolving role, and you’re excited about building the role as we go.
  • You love marking things off your to-do list. Everything checked off your list meets your high standards of quality, but you don’t let perfection get in the way of a deadline.
  • You are a solid, reliable, self-managed doer. People have confidence that if you are accountable for something, it will get done without having to remind you, and nothing will fall through the cracks.
  • Your communication is impeccable – people rarely misunderstand what you’re saying or asking of them, and you interact fluently and patiently with others who have different communication styles than you.
  • You’re tech-savvy, but you’re comfortable working with and supporting those who are not.
  • You don’t shy away from making processes more efficient or creating new processes from scratch when needed.
  • You don’t mind recurring tasks and projects and relish the opportunity to improve them with each iteration.
  • You are adept at managing your time. You love task batching, creating and using templates, and optimizing your work day, but you can also juggle projects and shuffle priorities flexibly when needed.
  • If you’ve ever taken a DISC assessment, you probably score highest in the C and S qualities.
  • Even if high school civics wasn’t your thing, you’re excited to explore new subjects and learn how the sausage gets made in local and state government.
  • You’re ok with and even excited to step outside of your comfort zone.
  • You’re a team player. When another teammate needs help or there’s an all-hands-on-deck situation, you’re the first one to raise your hand.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience in advocacy and/or association chapter management
  • Graphic design experience
  • Experience hosting short-term rentals or other work in the short-term rental industry
  • Social media management and curation experience
  • Basic video editing skills

What It’s Like to Work for Rent Responsibly

Rent Responsibly is a 100% remote team. We collaborate daily through Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, and Airtable. We don’t measure our days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. but through productivity and execution. Our teammates must be self-directed and have (or be able to create) the ideal remote work environment for themselves.

We are a small but nimble and enthusiastic team, so those who are willing to jump in with both feet on team projects, wear multiple hats, and then switch those hats on the fly will be happiest here. We invest in our teammates’ growth, too, including professional development resources and opportunities to take on higher roles as the company grows.

This is most of us! We are great at hiring women, we are not so great at taking a jump photo, and we are actively working on hiring more diversely. (And our jump shot.)

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with skills and experience
  • Paid holidays
  • Unlimited vacation + first Friday of each month off
  • Work from anywhere
  • Travel to fun destinations and conferences
  • Flex Fridays: No internal meetings on Fridays so you can spend your day getting sh*t done any way you like.
  • Flex Weeks: Select weeks throughout the year dedicated to tackling the important stuff that doesn’t always make it into a day-to-day schedule, such as deep work projects, professional development, and other things that require uninterrupted focus and flexibility.
  • Monthly phone/Wi-Fi stipend
  • Monthly wellness stipend
