We might not be Super Bowl-winning MVP quarterbacks, but STR hosts know what it’s like to have most of our work go unseen – the washing of heaps of linens, the detailing of a kitchen after a pizza party, the sourcing of hospitality-grade furnishings.
But it’s those basics that make or break the stay. And like Mahomes and the Chiefs, this season we’re getting a little extra time – except we know about it in advance, and we get ours in the first quarter: Leap Day.
This upcoming Leap Day can be our overtime to win another reservation or two, our extra opportunity to score another 5-star review, or perhaps a timeout to catch our breath and take care of ourselves to prevent burnout.
How will you use this Leap Day? (We’ve got some ideas!)

👋 Audit your property to make sure it’s inclusive of all travelers and your listing is up-to-date to attract them
🛟 Take stock of necessary safety measures for things like pools and hot tubs, watercraft and rec gear, or fireplaces and firepits
❌ Review your cancellation policy, and make sure it still works for your needs
🎧 Listen in on some new STR podcasts or watch some VR TV shows for fresh inspiration
🌱See where you can save money, time, and carbon footprint with new sustainability strategies
💬Review your guest communication templates to make sure they balance firm house rules and friendly customer service
🪷Do an early spring clean with a clear-the-clutter session to free up your space, time, and mind
