“Almost heaven sums up our experience…” — Guest review

This note came from a family who traveled across the country—including a 101-year-old mother—for a rare week together. The hosts, Allison and Richard Moser (board members of the Washington Hosts Collaborative Alliance), spent time in advance answering accessibility questions and ensuring every detail of the stay was considered.

If you’re a host reading this, this note is for you.

Behind every “almost heaven” moment is more than good hosting. It’s also the behind-the-scenes work that helps protect the ability to host at all—early conversationsthoughtful leadership, and steady advocacy that doesn’t always make headlines.

February can be a challenging month. It’s often when uncertainty feels louder, and progress feels slower, especially when you’re juggling leadership questions, ongoing conversations at your state capitol, or simply trying to make time for this work on top of your day job.

If any of that sounds familiar, we want you to know you’re not alone—and that we’re always looking for new ways to help.

This month, that effort was visible in places like Arizona, where Arizonans for Responsible Tourism (AZRT) hosted their fourth annual STR Day at the Capitol, bringing together more than 100 hosts to respectfully advocate for short-term rentals, connect with one another, and meet directly with legislators. It’s a reminder that community and preparation matter just as much as passion—and it’s just one example.

I’m sharing stories from our community, updates on our advocacy workcase studies, and practical guidance to help you stay informed and supported.

Thank you for the care you show your guests and your communities.

February is a good moment to pause and recognize the heart behind what you do. ♥️
