It’s not only moving that creates new starting points. Sometimes all it takes is a subtle shift in perspective, an opening of the mind, an intentional pause and reset, or a new route to start to see new options and new possibilities.

On January 1, I set out to read 100 books this year, all fitting different prompts and monthly themes – because why not add a little more challenge?
And somehow, it’s already July 🤯 With half the year and 56 books down, I had to pause and ask: Is my strategy putting me at risk of burning out? (Probably.) Am I taking enough time to stop and smell the roses? (Probably not.)
Taking a brief half-time in the heat of peak season may seem counterintuitive, but a moment for a breath, renourishment, and game-plan adjustments could be the biggest favor you do for your future self.
For me, that meant:
- Pressure testing and refining my why.
- Shedding some to-be-reads that I wasn’t looking forward to and committing to myself that I’d quit a book if I wasn’t into it early on.
- Reprioritizing books and prompts that serve my new why, that I am excited to read, and that support other goals beyond reading, too.
- Reflecting on the books I loved most, and being proud of all the prompts I’ve checked off so far.
The best hospitality providers take this moment in the year to check and recalibrate their roadmap. Are your team, properties, and systems holding up? Are your guests happy? Is your business moving toward your 2025 goals the way you hoped—or just trying to survive? Are you showing up the way you want to? Is a regulatory threat sneaking under your jam-packed radar? What have you already accomplished this year that’s worth celebrating?
We’ve got six months left in 2025. That’s plenty of time to course correct or reenvision new possibilities – if you make those tweaks now.
What’s one thing you want to change before December? What’s one thing you’re proud of this year so far? Tell us here – we’d love to hear it and celebrate with you.
